Designed by the architect Les Furber, President of the Canadian Golf Design Services Ltd. (GDS)
The Varadero Golf Club (18 holes, par 72) occupies a 3,5 km long strech of land that borders the Meliá Las Americas Golf & Suites Resort, Meliá Varadero and Sol palmeras resorts. A facility built with various design styles: classical with wide streets delimited trees, wide and little protected greens: a challenging design of Target Golf, modern style with narrow streets and well protected greens, surrounded by sand traps and lagoons, and links design, with holes by the sea, including sea as another hazard in the game. It has several sea-water lakes that directly communicate with the seam a perticular feature which makes of it almost one in the world.
The golf course can be perfectly divided into two well limited zones: first half, holes 1 to 9, that can be considered as the easier one, and the second, holes 10-18 in which stand out for their complexity holes: 11, 15 16, 17 and 18. Allowing golfers to combine all the technical elements.
The quality of the practice area's structure (300m long game, 2 putting green, 1 shopping green, 2 bunkers) allows to develop instruction en roofed areas. It has been the venue on two occasions of the European Challenger Tour Grand Finale and the AUDI Golf Cup of Spain.
